Our Adventure

Seems like I'm having quite a few adventures in Norway recently. Before I can even blog about my adventure with DHL, the 3 of us had a new one last night.

It’s Shanru’s birthday today, and as a form of celebration, me and Andeline decided that we should try to go to the weekly party held by our school, since we have postponed going there for the past many weeks. We set off at 925pm, but missed the 930pm train, so we caught the 945pm train. Similar to when we go to school, we stopped and crossed the platform to change to another train. (You must understand that in Oslo, different trains share a common platform. You have to watch for the train you want to take.)

We were happily talking and just boarded the next train that came along, which was one that brought us back to where we live!!! When we finally noticed it, we alighted, but we missed the next train to bring us back again to where we needed to change trains. So feeling adventurous and not wanting to wait for another 15 minutes, we decided to walk to school. Something we have heard could be done in 10 minutes, but we haven’t tried yet.

And there we were, 3 Asian girls, not carrying bags, not holding maps, in the dark, trying to search through the housing estates to find our school. We did eventually get there, 20-25 minutes later (not bad considering we would need at least 30 minutes to reach by train).

Next problem was that we realized the party had a theme: erotica. The security guard made us a bit worried by the way he talked… And as we peeped in, we saw a photo of a naked lady on a beach flashed on a huge screen. Erm… ok. Since we needed the toilet badly, we slipped into the next door restaurant’s toilet where we stood for like 15 minutes, discussing what our plan was.

Well, the main issue wasn't the naked photos/videos/strip teases (of which i heard about afterwards), but that we were just totally inappropriately dressed. In just T-shirts and jeans. The girls there (despite the weather) were wearing tights, high boots, mini skirts… You get the idea…

In the end, we self-discriminated ourselves from the party. Went home. The sad thing about Oslo is that besides pubs and clubs, there is no kopitiam to go to. Haha… But I decided to continue having a night of fun! So I fried frozen prata and made hot chocolate – the closest I can get to a nice supper at Ah Fang! And in typical hall style, I chatted with Shanru till 4am… Cool! Just like the old days I miss so much!
